Education and Training
The Centre conducts several training programmes for scientists and doctors. These include PhD (MAHE), MSc (Bangalore University), Fellowship in Paediatric Genetics (RGUHS), South Asia Fellowship programme in Clinical Genetics, other certificate courses and short-term workshops and training programmes. Listed below are the courses available at CHG.
One-year post-MD Fellowship programme in Paediatric Genetics
This programme has been running since July 2013 in partnership with the Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health, Bengaluru, under RGUHS. Eighteen doctors have completed training under the programme and are working in different centres in Karnataka and other states. Fellows are selected from among applicants from all over India after a written test and interview.

Two-year MSc in Human Disease Genetics
The programme began in August 2015 under University of Mysore. Presently the programme is with Bangalore University. This is a unique course which brings together fundamental and clinical sciences. Students are selected after an all-India competitive written examination and an interview conducted by CHG.

Clinical Genetics Fellowship Program for South Asian countries
India for training paediatricians from Asian countries in Clinical Genetics and Inherited Metabolic Disorders (one-year duration).

DBT UMMID Fellowship in Genetic Diagnostics at the Centre for Human Genetics (CHG), Bengaluru
The Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India has launched a 6 months ‘Fellowship in Genetic Diagnostics’ for Faculty/Clinicians only from Government Medical Colleges and Hospitals. With an aim to expand National Inherited Disorders Administration Kendras (NIDAN Kendras) to provide comprehensive clinical care including diagnosis, management, multidisciplinary care, counseling, prenatal testing at Government Hospitals/Medical Colleges. This Fellowship offers a great opportunity to Govt. Hospitals and Medical Colleges by training their permanent faculty, physicians and scientists who are keen to develop Genetic Facilities to cater to the needs of patients. The program will provide training in cytogenetic and molecular genetic techniques along with the understanding about their applications in patient care.
The Centre for Human Genetics, Bengaluru has been selected by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, as a well-established centres with facilities for diagnosis and management of genetic disorders to provide training for 6 months ‘Fellowship in Genetic Diagnostics’
